Recent Progress

We haven't reported on any of our ringing since the handbell day, so here's a quick summary of what we have been up to.

  • We succeeded with a quarter of Superlative Major with Marcus, using a simple and easy composition (six homes, called sbbsbb). The exotic compositions from a previous post remain unrung.
  • We lost a peal of Cambridge Royal with Nick, but rang a quarter on a different occasion. We have decided that we are better at ringing peals on Mondays than on Thursdays (but weekends are best of all).
  • We also rang a quarter of Cambridge Royal with Marcus.
  • We still haven't managed to ring a 7-part all-the-work quarter of 8-spliced, but we did ring a nice split-tenors 6-part composition with alternately 1xxx5678 and 1xxx8765 at the part ends:

  • Our efforts with touches of spliced London and Bristol have improved slightly.
  • The children are also progressing: Dorothy has mastered plain hunting on 4 and is doing well with plain hunting on 6. Thomas has developed a taste for Bastow. They both did some three-generational ringing with me and my dad at the weekend.
